Retouching Re-inveted

As an artist/photographer, I’m always playing with ideas and concepts on hows to achieve the “Wow” from my Art.

Here is a idea I’ve been playing with in my mind for sometime, Ive taking what inspires me to create a possible new Creative retouching, editing and photographic Process.

I feel its still a little rough around the edges, however i like the direction I’m going in and thought its time i shared 🙂

How i shot, what i shot and why…

CAMERA: Canon 500d

LIGHT SOURCE: Natural Light? Ambient Light? Flash? This had me confused… With my inexperience, at the time, i was shooting “on camera flash” please forgive me, however the light was not reaching the Model. There where many other photographers around, many of those where shooting on camera flash. There where lights around the market area (cant remember if they where on). Also the beautiful daylight shining through the roof top of the market. From the results i believe the sunlight over powered the other light sources, so i’m saying this was shot in day/natural light 😉

LENS: Canon EF-S 55-250 mm at 135mm

EXPOSURE: 1/80th at F/5.0

ISO: 100

RETOUCHED: Converted to Black And White

WHY THIS SHOT: *cover face* Simply because it was one of a few (of a couple thousand) that where in focus (not pin sharp) and that i enjoy the feeling of. Oh and the double catch light, do love catch lights. I must give credit to the unknown designer, as the garment and colour are amazing 🙂

Here is an image from my second promotional fitness shot with Mark “Boxfit” personal trainer, taken at a local park in ilford. I do love shooting on location when the sun is just right, and am able to dial down all the excess light.

DATE: 23/5/10

CAMERA: Canon 500d

LIGHT SOURCE: Canon Speed light 430 EX mk2, through a 28inch umbrella – Camera Left, i cant remember the power settings but its possible the flash was set to 1/4 power

LENS: Canon EF-S 18-55 mm at 27mm

EXPOSURE: 1/200th at F/4.0

ISO: 100

RETOUCHED: No

WHY THIS SHOT: this was captured mid flow, whilst mark was throwing boxing combinations. I like the intensity of his concentration. With ensight i would liked to have position Mark to avoid the mix of red brick and stone.

How i shot, what i shot and why…

Here i have gone back to my very first photo-shoot out on location, yes the dreaded first shoot, where nerves and butterflies created earthquakes and volcanoes, through my entire being hahahaha… Im not sure if having Immnse as very close friend helped or made it all worst? i do remember he was late which really didn’t help 😉 however we got on with it a produced some nice work. 🙂

The photo-shoot was for his “pandemic” album

How i shot, what i shot and why...

This will be a new series of posts, where i’m going back to my earlier days as a photographer, and talking about, as the title states “How i shot, what i shot and why” giving a description of the equipment used, camera settings, light diagrams and anything else i feel needs to be added to explain how the images where created.

Hopefully this will help me and those that choose to interact. Thanks for checking out tis post..

Peace, JC out…
